In Greek mythology, “Silenus” was the mentor and faithful companion to Dionysus, the Greek god of wine. The image on our inaugural Silenus Winery label is a “thyrsus”, a fennel staff topped with a pinecone dipped in honey which Silenus was known to carry during harvest celebrations.
The Silenus 2008 Cabernet Sauvignon has deep, dark ruby-red color. On the nose there are beautiful bright cherry and raspberry aromas and toasted oak, with a hint of mint. On the palate, the flavors are layered and complex with ripe plum, cinnamon, blackberry preserve and dark chocolate. The wine has a vibrant fruitiness while still maintaining a polished elegance.
The majority of the Cabernet Sauvignon was harvested from our estate vineyard in Oak Knoll District.
The 2008 Blend:
90% Cabernet Sauvignon
4% Syrah
3% Cab Franc
3% Petit Verdot
