Silenus Winery - The American Series: The Eagle
This series is our tribute to the American spirit of freedom and independence first represented at the start of the United States. The founders of the United States were fond of comparing the new republic with the Roman Republic in which eagle images were used to depict strength, courage, farsightedness and immortality.
Our use of the Eagle links the ancient past to our vibrant present. It is a symbol of the Silenus brand - creating unique, ultra premium wines that showcase their own proud style.
The Wine
The Silenus 2010 Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon is made from our very best Cabernet Sauvignon. Eighty-five percent of the blend comes from fruit specifically picked from the “sunnyside” of our estate vineyards, where the fruit is extra ripe. Aged in 60% new French oak and 20% new American oak and 20% neutral barrels.
Blend:
100% Cabernet Sauvignon
Tasting Notes:
This wine has a very deep ruby red color. On the nose there is a wonderful mix of oak, vanilla, earth and dark red fruit jam aromas. On the palate the wine has exceptionally ripe, juicy and vibrant flavors of plum, figs, blackberries, cocoa. A very deep, lush and heady wine, the cacophony of flavors persist to a finish topped off by a hint of chocolate. The wine is big and brash and at the same time elegant and layered. It is a wine worth pondering.
